Investment funds that claim to contribute to sustainable development are growing rapidly. Despite growth in green investment funds (GIFs), there is little research on the way they allocate capital and the extent to which they deliver on their green claims, or even the extent to which they differ from conventional funds. We conduct a comparative study of GIF and conventional funds and to describe the differences in fund holdings for 6888 equity funds on the European market. Our overarching objective is to understand the extent to which GIFs (Article 8 and 9 funds) invest differently than conventional Article 6 funds.
